Canadian American Challenge Results

Scott Vanderzell

The Titans traveled to Downtown Buffalo to compete in the Canadian – American Challenge at ECC’s Flickinger Aquatic Center. Forty-two Titans from Levels 1 to 8 put in some fantastic efforts in the slightly “cooler than we are used” to pool. This meet spanned three days and saw swims in events ranging from the 25 free to the 1000 free! Great swims, supportive teammates, and some fun were on display all weekend.

Level 1 had a small but mighty turnout with one swimmer at the Canadian- American Challenge and was able to test out the waters in a new pool.  We were able to show off what we've been working on with Khloe Kibby crushing 3/4 of her old times! Amazing job!

Level 2 also sent one swimmer to the meet and had no disqualifications! Alexis Carter put forth a great effort while creating a positive atmosphere for her and her teammates.  What a fun meet!

Level 4 has been working diligently on improving the “little things” at practice and it paid off already! 6 swimmers combined for 16 new best times, 5 new events, and zero disqualifications. Carl Beckley swam 2 new best times adding the 100 back to his new events list. Maximus Carter piled up 4 new personal best times and crushed his 200 Breaststroke! Kaitlyn Forpahl went 3 for 3 on Saturday swimming all personal bests. Lucy Pendley pulled together 3 more best times. Ariyana Sanders added two more super swims to our best times total. Finally, Khalil Voelker had 4 great efforts adding 2 more personal best times to the total. This groups swam well and had a lot of fun in the process this meet.

Level 5 had a great group of kids this meet. We had five swimmers and in this small group we had 9 best times! The swimmers were Kiera Curvin, Joey Tacca, Ellie Homish, Tessa Michalowski, and James Lyons. Level 5 has been challenged in the past couple of weeks in practice so we are very excited to see the hard work shining through. Ellie Homoish swam 10 events, including two new ones, the 200 freestyle and the 100 backstroke. Along with Ellie, Tessa Michalowski swam three new events, those being the 200 Individual medley, 100 backstroke, and 50 butterfly. We love seeing our swimmers try new events! Both James Lyons and Joey Tacca had some great swims and brought the best attitudes to the meet. They both continuously put smiles on the swimmers and coaches faces. Finally, Kiera Curvin came to the meet posting some impressive times. She just returned from varsity swimming and we are excited to have her back with our group!

Level 6 sent six swimmers to this meet. They swam extremely well over the three days. They pulled together for a total of 17 new personal bets times, ZERO disqualifications, and another new event conquered. Sean Curvin swam strong all weekend going 6 for 7 best times, Grace Griffin added 4 personal bests and won the 100 and 200 breaststroke, Reese Marcyan had 4 great efforts with her first 500 free being the most impressive! Josephine Russom could do no wrong swimming personal best times every swim this weekend! Kylie Szaflarski swam hard all weekend with 8 events saving her best performance for last in the 50 fly! Sydney Yost put in 5 swims on Saturday breaking the 30 second barrier in her 50 free! It will be difficult to keep setting new personal bests and that is why we will continue to challenge ourselves in practice! Great efforts by all.
