Mark Braun Invite Results

Scott Vanderzell

The Titans traveled to Ohio for the Mark J. Braun Fall Classic the weekend of November 19th, 20th & 21st. This was a “Cut Time” meet, meaning the swimmers had to achieve certain time standards to enter. All the swimmers who made the trip were able to participate in an extremely fast meet, seeing some truly amazing races, as well as putting in a bunch of our own. The meet played host to over 50 teams and well over 800 athletes, all swimming at a very high level.

The Titans were represented by Anne Bosciarino, Ryan Bronson, Paige Glor, Peyton Glor, Grace Griffin, Haley Griffin, Megan Hufnagel, Jackson James, Josie Russom, Maddy Scibetta, and Kali Voelker. These swimmers were able to gain some great experience at a “Big Meet” seeing what warm up and competition is like at an elite level meet…. It’s crowded!

The swimmers made the best of the situation every session, finding new places to sit and warm up based on space and availability each day. Learning that getting ready to swim is as important as the actual swimming! We had a ton of support with the small contingent of Titans cheering each other on and having some fun in the process!

Friday, we had a solid efforts by Grace Griffin, Josie Russom, and Kali Voelker in the 200 IM. Saturday was prelims/finals formatted meaning the top swimmers from the preliminaries were able to return at night for Finals. This meet was extremely fast, and it took phenomenal swims to make it back in the evening. We had great swims in the prelims sessions pulling together ten personal bests, 3 finals swims and 2 super relays! Grace Griffin had 2 amazing Breaststroke swims in finals adding 2 more best times and an Eastern Zone Championship Cut time to her total! While Kali Voelker had 2 personal bests in her finals event the 100 back on the day. Sunday, we had another fantastic showing of effort and team support with all the swimmers putting in some super swims. This was a “timed finals” day, meaning we only had 1 shot to swim fast. Paige Glor, Peyton Glor, and Haley Griffin endured the 3rd day of the meet with great attitudes and efforts posting some great swims. The 12 and under session saw more fast swims with 13 more personal best times and a 5th place finish for Grace Griffin the 100 Breast!

Everyone had the opportunity to learn something this weekend and we were happy to be back at this type of meet! Way to go Titans!
