Scott Vanderzell

We hosted the Titans Holiday Meet at the Town of Tonawanda Aquatic and Fitness Center Tuesday and Wednesday December 28th & 29th 2021. This was the last swimming opportunity in 2021 and proved to be a great opportunity to see our progress and focus on the things to improve moving ahead! We had a relatively small meet with only 6 teams in attendance, but the Titans came in force with 110 of the 179 athletes in attendance. Swimmers from ALL Levels Stroke Development through Level 8 did fantastic! Thanks to all who helped make this such a great meet!

It was such a joy seeing so many swimmers at our recent Holiday Meet.  Stroke Development had 3 swimmers and five swims total.  Congratulations Camden Costa, Jonathan Costa and Jacob Olson for all swimming in your first meet! Your hard work is paying off!

Level 1 brought 7 swimmers and had a total of 20 swims; 7 of which were best times! Grace Macro swam best times in 3/3 of her events, and Khloe Kibby, Natalie Marzullo, Audrey Nudell, Payton Olson, and Harper Shoveling challenged themselves with new, longer events.  It was great to see such positive attitudes and awesome racing; wonderful job everyone!

Level 2 showed that their practices are paying off as they swam new events and strokes.  They had 9 swimmers and 8 best times. Jordyn Werder and Emilia Dewey swam in their first meet and really left their mark! Derek Hufnagel swam a total of 6 events and had 4 best times.  Shoutout to Alex Caccamise on his first 100 backstroke, Lexi Carter on her first 100 freestyle and 50 Butterfly, and Michael Scibetta on his 100 free! Other swimmers with best times include Michael Caccamise with an awesome 50 free! Can’t wait to see what the rest of the season brings!

There were 10 Level 3 swimmers in attendance who amassed 22 best times! You could tell the swimmers were in the holiday spirit, spreading cheer while rooting for their teammates during their swims. Congratulations to our swimmers of the meet Natalie Lever and Josie Lyons, who each achieved best times in each of their events at the meet and for trying a couple of new, longer events.

Level 4 has been swimming better and better in practice working on improving all 4 strokes! We had twelve impressive swimmers in attendance at the Holiday Swim. They piled up 40 personal best times, 10 new events, 9 Championship Qualifier (silver) times, 4 Niagara Championship (gold) times, and only 3 DQs to focus on fixing! Several swimmers could do no wrong in the pool, achieving best times with every swim! Congratulations to Avril Ashworth, Nora Bronson, Vivienne Cabin, Kaitlyn Forpahl, Bianca Gomes, and Andrew Morse who all swam bets times, every time! Everyone in attendance from level 4 has so much to be proud of including Gianna Ayres-Barnack’s great effort in the 100 free, Maximus Carter’s amazing 1st 500 free, Gretchen Cenczyk’s fantastic 100 Back, Brigid Connors super 50 free, Ariyana Sanders swimming 5 of 6 personal best times, and Khalil Voelker’s 1st 200 Breaststroke!
