Niagara Qualifier Results
Hi Ho Silvers!!!!! A dated reference but all the same the Titans were off and running this past weekend at the Niagara Championship Qualifier at the Town of Tonawanda Aquatic and Fitness Center. We played host to over 330 athletes and 13 Teams. The Titans sent 73 swimmers to the meet, competing in the three-day, five session event. We saw some excellent swimming at every session, not only did we claim the overall TEAM Championship, but we had several Individual High Point winners, 35 NICQ Individual/ Relay Champions and amazingly over 100 new Niagara Championship times achieved! Thanks to all our parents who volunteered, coaches who got the swimmers ready and especially our Titan Swimmers who did us all proud!
Peyton Olson represented Level 2 and swam two events. She got a best time in her 100 free; awesome job! We can’t wait to see what the rest of the season brings!
Level 3 had 2 swimmers at silvers. Tony had best times in all 3 events and Bianca had best times in all events but one. They both came eager and excited to swim. Bianca stepped up when someone was unable to participate in a relay and Tony made sure to ask how to improve his strokes after every race. We are super proud of these two!
Level 4 sent four amazing swimmers to the meet who were able to pile up 12 new best times a Championship cut, help out on amazing relays, and they did it all without a single disqualification! Congratulations to Vivienne Cabin who swam a best time every time she hit the water, Kaitlyn Forpahl who crushed her 200 free time by over 7 seconds, Lilah Pawelek who came and destroyed her 100 free time by over 4 seconds, and finally Maximus Carter who swam also went 3 for 3 best times achieving his first NI “Gold “cut.
Level 5 had 6 swimmers at silvers. Ellie Homish, Megan Hufnagel, Issac King, Elise Muffoletto, Owen Scibetta, and Khaki Voelker. Among the 6 of them we had 14 best times and 24 gold times in total. Megan Hufnagel had a great weekend, she dropped time in 3 events, and won the high point award for the 10 and under age group! Ellie Homish has been taking extra time to work on her freestyle and her hard work paid off, she accomplished a gold time in her 100 freestyle. Finally, Issac King swam 10 events this weekend and was able to get best times in 5. On top of that he brought the most spirit with our themes at finals!
Level 6 was represented by 18 fantastic swimmers. Everyone in attendance brought great efforts and we saw what hard work does! They were able to amas 106 new personal best times, 47 of them Niagara Championship cuts, 9 NICQ Champions crowned, and amazing efforts in the relays! All 18 swimmers from level 6 have so much to be proud of at this meet it would be difficult to say it all but just a few of the highlights are necessary: Amazingly, Julia Cabin, Keira Curvin, Sean Curvin, Juliana Haacker, Reese Marcyan, Gavin Miller, Nathan Reimann, all were able to put together best times every event! Anne Boscarino dropping nearly 13 seconds in her 200 IM. Ryan Bronson with almost a 17 second improvement in the 100 Fly to achieve a NI Champs cut. Brynn Muffoletto swimming amazing backstrokes getting the NI Champ cut in both the 50 & 100, Lucy Nudell adding 3 NI Champ cuts in the 100 & 200 Im and the 100 Free, Josephine Russom 3 best times and anther NI cut. Lucia Santiago crushing her personal best in the 200 free by almost 8 seconds. Kylie Szaflarski adding 3 more Niagara Champ cuts to her total! Sydney Yost slashing 6 and a half seconds off her 500 free. Finally Andre Charlier who not only had best times every time, he had NI Champs cuts every time and won the 11-12 Boys Individual Highpoint Award! Amazing job to all in Level 6.
Level 7-8- WOW what a great meet! Congrats to Maren Drews winning the Senior Girls High Point award. As a group we had over 260 personal best swims with some of those swims were the same event twice in that day. We had 50 new gold times as a group!! It is tough for me to single out individuals at this meet since the group as a whole was very impressive. I am very excited about the championship month we are heading into.
